Yesterday we went to the doctor’s and visited the nurse there so we could be officially weighed. It had been 2 weeks (or a fortnight as they say here) and one day when we started on our diet and lifestyle change journey. I sat there waiting for her to call us in. She had seen us in the waiting room and asked “Has everything gone to plan?” at which time I responded by saying “We’ll soon find out but I think so!” Suddenly the door opened and our names were called. The moment of truth was about to descend!I was first! I stepped up (didn’t even take off my shoes as I normally would do and then she said! “You’ve lost 7 pounds”… Ahhh…it wasn’t as much as I’d hoped for but at least I lost. Here’s hoping next time (I’ve made an appointment for 2 weeks) it will be even better.
Yes, I can hear you dieters saying… “what she doesn’t know is that was just water weight”… Well, I’m hoping with just a little more exercise, I can improve. Stay tuned here for the next weigh-in in 2 weeks.
Oh, Russ? Humph! He lost 18 pounds in 2 weeks. So you can see why I was a bit grumpy! He’s really tried hard though. So with the sounds of the nurse saying “men lose weight easier you know” ringing in my ears…we left patting each other on the back! Was it worth it? You bet! And we are continuing.
It all really was worth it!

Thank you! I’m hoping we will continue. We’ll see… no signs of stopping now though.

Wow- that’s fantastic! I think 7 pounds is a pretty decent amount, for just two weeks time. But, gee- 18 pounds! I would have never dreamed that Russ could lose 18 pounds in 2 weeks time! You all are both doing great- I am confident the next “weighing in” will be just as impressive!

Yes, I found it hard to believe too but we both weighed in the same room and the nurse noted it in his chart so it is official! I hope we both do as well next time we go (the following 2 weeks). Thanks ever so much for the encouragement. Starting a diet and exercise regime is the easy part…maintaining it will be the difficult part. Here’s hoping!
